How to structure a private-label wheel program

A stage-gated path from market brief and design ownership to samples, packaging and repeat orders.

Private-label wheel programs succeed when design, fitment and commercial decisions move through clear gates. Begin with the target customer, vehicle coverage and price architecture—not only a visual reference.

During engineering, agree who owns design files and tooling, how revisions are approved, and which test plan applies. Sample sign-off should cover dimensions, brake clearance, finish appearance, markings, packaging and the documents required for import or resale.

Before the first production order, freeze the specification and define change control. Record how raw material, critical dimensions, finish batches and final inspection will be traced. This creates a cleaner handover from launch to replenishment and protects both buyer and supplier from silent specification drift.
